Premises Identification

To trace livestock diseases, animal health officials must know where livestock were born, where they have been, and where they came into contact with other animals. Identifiying locations that manage or hold animals- referred to as premises- is the foundation of all disease control programs.

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is responsible for providing, through USDA, Premises Identification Numbers (PIN) for premises involved in livestock production or commerce in Idaho. One unique PIN will be linked to each premises involved in animal agriculture. Obtaining a PIN is voluntary and free of charge.
