Cattle Feedlots

Cattle Feedlots are governed by IDAPA 02.04.15, Rules Governing Beef Cattle Animal Feeding Operations. The incorporated documents for this rule are:

  • The 2004 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 40 Part 122 Section 122.23 (b)(1), (b)(2), (b)(4), (b)(6), or (b)(9).
  • The 1997 United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook, Appendix 10 D. *
  • The 2000 American Society of Agricultural Engineers Standard EP393.3*
  • The 1999 Publication by the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Conservation Practice Standard, Nutrient Management Code 590. *

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Idaho Cattle Association have put into place a Memoranrum of Understanding (MOU) to help in the regulation cattle feedlots. The current MOU is available for online viewing*.

There is also an Interagency Cooperative Agreement* between ISDA and DEQ in regards to Cattle Feeding Operations.

These documents will be updated as changes are made.
