Eurasian Watermilfoil Program

Eurasian WatermilfoilThe Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) is doing its part to protect Idaho's quality of life and the state's scenic beauty. In April 2006, the Legislature and the Governor approved $4 million over two years to eradicate a very aggressive noxious weed, Eurasian Watermilfoil. In 2007 the Govenor and the Idaho Legislature approved an additional $4 million over two years.

As directed by H.B. 869 (2006), ISDA is expending the appropriated funds to support on-the-ground Eurasian Watermilfoil eradication projects through a statewide Eurasian Watermilfoil Program.

Applications for funds associated with this program shall be submitted only to ISDA. As the designated lead agency administering the Eurasian Watermilfoil Program, ISDA staff has conferred with both state and federal agencies to coordinate and facilitate processing, prioritization, and approval of these applications.

Available funds will be distributed to as many high-priority projects throughout the state as possible in an equitable and meaningful allocation.
